Caller - I am looking for a 1U 4K rackmount monitor with longer cables. Do you have the ability to offer a display port cable and a power cable longer than six feet in length?

Response: Yes, the standard cable is six feet and is actually integrated into the drawer directly. It does not have a connection on the rear of the chassis. The reason for this is, we found during testing, there was some signal degradation when multiple connections were used. The best way to address this is to run a direct Display Port cable from the AD board out to the server or target device. What we can do is build a specific 1U 4K LCD Drawer with a built in 10 foot cable. We can also include a 10’ USB and power cable with the configuration. If you refer to the drawing I sent you, it shows that the display port cable is integrated into the drawer, so not like a traditional cable where it has an IO port, and that’s why the cost is different from the six foot and the ten foot.

Caller: Oh okay, but what you are quoting me, the RM-117 -17KTP-10 is the one with the integrated cable like the one you’re showing me on the back of this one, correct?

Response: They both have an integrated cable, but the default is the six foot integrated cable.

Caller: I ordered an RM-111-19WH and I am having issues connecting to the KVM Switch we purchased. I have your keyboard and a monitor and I’m having issues with the connecting to our KVM switch. It comes with a cable that’s supposed to connect to the KVM switch, but when I plug it in, it doesn’t recognize the keyboard and doesn’t connect to anything.

Response: What kind of KVM switch do you have?

Caller: It’s new. It’s a Tripplite 8 port 1U Rack model USB KVM switch

Response: I am not totally familiar with Tripplite but they do offer some lower end, older technology with some of their products. I’m wondering if it requires a separate USB cable or connection for the keyboard separate from the mouse. I don’t know if that’s the issue or not. Some older designed KVM Switches require a USB connection for the keyboard and a separate USB connection for the mouse.

Caller: Wow, that’s strange, I just ordered this thing and it sounds like it is an older technology. Is there any kind of cable that would separate the two? The model number is B042-008. It has a PS/2 port on the back I/O.

Resonse: My best best guess is you could have some issues connecting to most 1U rackmount monitors since they are still using a PS/2 type I/O

Caller: Is there any USB drives I need to install on each particular server?

Response: No the monitor we provided to you has VGA / USB and DVI USB inputs. It is a plug and play KVM Drawer. The drawer is not going to communicate properly with an older PS/2 type protocol.

Caller: OK, I will see if I can return the one I purchased. Do you have an 8 Port KVM Switch what will work with the RM-111-19WH?

Response – Yes, the KVM-S8 is a 1U 8 Port KVM switch with a single console. It includes 8, 6’ KVM Cables and will work flawlessly with the RM-111-19WH rackmount monitor.

Caller – cool, it includes the cables or I have to order them separately like I had to with the Tripplite KVM Switch. I was pretty bummed when the box showed up and there were no cables included.

Response – Sorry to hear they did not include the cables. You have to watch the pricing sometimes, its not always an apples to apples price comparison.

Caller – Can you send me a quote for the KVM Switch? I will have the one I purchase returned and get one that will work with the drawer. By the way, the structure of the KVM drawer is impressive. I can tell it is well built. The hinge is stiff so I can easily position the angle at any viewing degree for better viewing. Thanks again for your assistance.
